Here is the recount I wrote for an Asttle writing test in Week 4. Our teacher marked all our recounts and gave us our scores. Mine came out at Level 2a which is just below the end of year standard for Year Five. I got the lowest marks for punctuation an spelling and the highest marks for structure and sentences.
We helped each other improve them by reading each other’s recount and talking about them. We also used Revision Assistant to help edit each other’s story and Mrs B added some notes as well. Everyone in our room likes Revision Assistant because it’s easy to understand the marks/ notes that it puts on your writing and so it’s quick for us to go and do the fix-ups. We have to have practically perfect grammar, punctuation and spelling in our stories before we are allowed to publish them here. I hope someone will give me some feedback.

“Yahoo!” I shouted. It’s Sunday morning. Mum, Dad get up. Come on! We have to get ready!” Ryan my brother was already up.
“Ryan, get dressed, we are going to clean the barbeque,” said Dad.While Ryan and Dad were doing the barbeque, Mum and I were doing the food. There were marshmallows, party mix, chips and M&Ms. After that I set the table while Mum was icing the cake. It was chocolate and I was dribbling just looking at it.
Then, I went out to play with my rugby ball and I heard someone coming up the driveway. It was my grandma and grandpa so I rushed to the gate and gave them a big hug. Then the next people arrived and it was my nana and poppa. I put my presents on the table and gave them a great big hug too.
Right after that, my aunty, uncle and my cousin drove up the driveway. We all had a very happy time together as a family.
Finally, it was time to pack up so my Dad put the barbeque away. I put the plates away and my brother, my dad and my mum did the gazebo. After that, we all relaxed.
I felt happy.
